On Friday the 13th July the year 1 and year 3 classes of Hemblington School visited Hemblington church as part their religious education studies. We discussed what the church is used for, emphasising that its main purpose is for worship. We then looked at the structure and layout of the building. The children put labels on plans, drew their favourite part of the church and drew their ideas of what the missing face of our St. Christopher might be like.
For many of them the high spot was a chance to try their hand at bell ringing. We ended the visit with a bible story, prayer and blessing. All of us involved were very pleased with the enthusiasm shown by our visitors, the way in which they engaged with the activities and we were impressed by their good behaviour. Hopefully this will be the first of many visits from the school.
